On opening day, Claude Dielna wore the captain’s armband for the New England Revolution. Since then we’ve seen Diego Fagundez, Scott Caldwell, and Andrew Farrell bestowed with the honor. This variety is all because the coaching staff is getting to know their players.
“We’re a brand new staff,” head coach Brad Friedel noted. “Every player has the opportunity to impress us on and off the field.”
So far, Friedel has awarded the armband to who he thinks is best suited to lead the team at that moment. He explained it by saying, “At certain times, we have to put who we think is going the leader and the best leader for that time.
