Tom Brady: Steelers didn't want Gronkowski, Bennett to have big day

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Tight end Rob Gronkowski's 36-yard touchdown catch was one the key plays in the New England Patriots’ 27-16 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, which quarterback Tom Brady said was one of the few chances the offense had to go to Gronkowski because of the type of defense played against him and fellow tight end Martellus Bennett.

Gronkowski’s touchdown -- which came midway through the third quarter -- was the 68th of his career and tied the Patriots record set by receiver Stanley Morgan (1977-89).

“I think they were pretty intent with not letting Gronk or Marty have big days,” Brady said Monday during his weekly interview on sports radio WEEI’s “Kirk and Callahan Show.
