Patriots OL dealt with life-threatening disease in 2023

Last offseason, fans were perplexed by the situation with New England Patriots offensive tackle Calvin Anderson, who despite signing with the team earlier in the offseason was noticeably absent on the field.

He was placed on the non-football injury list before eventually returning to practice in late August before the start of the regular season.

After a full season in which Anderson appeared in five games, we now know why he was late to start practicing with his team.

According to the Boston Globe's Christopher Price, Anderson was battling malaria, a life-threatening disease caused by parasites from mosquitos.
