If we pay attention, the Patriots may be telegraphing their moves with the No. 3 pick

ORLANDO — Jerod Mayo showed up on time to the head coaches’ breakfast on Monday morning, sat at his table in front of more than a dozen reporters, and welcomed everybody with open arms.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to speak with you guys,” Mayo said at the NFL meetings. “Hopefully you guys come out of here with some clarity as far as our strategy’s concerned, as far as our team-building is concerned. Fire away.”

Suffice to say it’s a new day in Foxborough. The Patriots’ new leadership doesn’t just grumble “we’ll do what’s best for the team.
