GLENDALE, Arizona -- New England Patriots safety Devin McCourty and tight end Martellus Bennett raised their right fists into the air after the national anthem prior to Sunday night's season-opening win over the Arizona Cardinals.
McCourty explained his thought process behind doing so.
"Around the NFL, a lot of guys are doing different things. It’s all for the same cause, different social injustices," he said. "We’ve talked as players throughout the league trying to make change in our communities one by one using our platform, not just doing it on Sundays and game days.
