Despite 4-13 record, Matthew Slater was honored to be part of Patriots’ success

Matthew Slater ended his 16-year NFL career as a three-time Super Bowl champion and 10-time Pro Bowl selection with the New England Patriots, but his final season didn’t end on a high note.

The former special teams captain, who retired this offseason, walked away from the game of football after New England finished the year with a 4-13 record — the worst under Bill Belichick. But despite the lack of success in 2023, it was still an honor for the Patriots legend.
