Are shorter kickoffs affecting Stephen Gostkowski's FG attempts?

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Several followers on Twitter checked in after the New England Patriots' 27-16 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers with the same question about kicker Stephen Gostkowski's struggles and if they could be related to the new approach on kickoffs.

@MikeReiss And I wonder if that's related to changing how he approaches kickoffs. Has anyone asked him or BB about that possibility?

With this in mind, the following question was asked of Bill Belichick in his Monday morning conference call:

Could there be any carryover for a kicker who is practicing different techniques on kickoffs -- maybe instead of swinging his leg through to power the ball for a touchback on a consistent basis, he is doing more of the pop-up kicks -- to his field-goal stroke?
