Since he was a kid, Brendan O’Leary-Orange had promised his mom she wouldn’t have to pay for his college education.
Of course, there was a problem with that plan. O’Leary-Orange was a stellar athlete in high school, but he also lived in Canada, where athletic college scholarships are basically non-existent and the odds of landing one in America are nearly as long. Another complication? O’Leary-Orange’s best sport as a prep student was volleyball, and there are less than 30 Division I teams in that sport in the United States.
