Luensmann named Big Ten freshman of the year

Chad Luensmann's record freshman season didn't go unnoticed at the Big Ten offices in Chicago.

Luensmann became the first Nebraska baseball player to be named Big Ten freshman of the year when the conference announced its postseason honors on Tuesday.

Luensmann's 13 saves this season is a Husker freshman record, is third all-time in team history for a single season and tied for first in the Big Ten. He's two saves from tying Josh Roeder (2015) for second and three from tying Brett Jensen (2005) for first.

Husker first baseman Scott Schreiber was named first team All-Big Ten, shortstop Steven Reveles and outfielder Ryan Boldt were joined by Luensmann on the second team and Jake Meyers and Ben Miller were third team.
