On the week of his first draft as a certified NFL agent, a day after he'd coached his kids in four different soccer games, Dan Augustyn was sitting in his office thinking about his grandfather and a football tryout almost 60 years ago.
The late Joe Augustyn Jr. rose out of Loup City. He played football at Northern Colorado. He was a coach and referee — coaching in Nebraska towns, Kansas towns. He even coached Scott Frost when he was in junior high school in McCook.
Joe also once had a tryout with the Green Bay Packers.
