It didn’t matter that the Nebraska soccer team clinched a first Big Ten Tournament berth just before Wednesday’s match with Iowa. The four Husker seniors weren’t going to go out without one last win at Hibner Stadium.
The Huskers withstood a scrappy Iowa team with nothing on the line but possibly spoiling Nebraska’s tournament seeding and won their final regular-season match 1-0 on Senior Night.
The game’s lone goal came early in the second half when Haley Hanson delivered a dipping cross that found the head of senior Jaycie Johnson. The ball fluttered down off an Iowa defender and through the legs of Hawkeye keeper Claire Graves.
