But the Nebraska softball team squeezed in three games, and more importantly, three wins thanks to a series-closing 5-4, eight-inning rally Saturday at Bowlin Stadium.
With Taylor Otte at third base, pinch hitter Gina Metzler hit a chopper at Northwestern first baseman Alcy Bush, who fired to home to prevent the winning run from scoring. Otte was too fast, beating the tag.
The Huskers (24-25, 13-7 Big Ten) won the first game 7-4, and their win streak is at five games.
That win streak was in jeopardy when Northwestern jump to a 4-2 lead in the fifth inning.
