Husker draft streak lives on, Gerry picked by Eagles to end fifth round

The time spent in the waiting room was perhaps longer than preferred, but Nebraska's streak of having a player picked in each NFL Draft lives on.

Nate Gerry began the first Husker off the board, taken by the Philadelphia Eagles in the last pick in the fifth round (184th overall).

A three-year all-conference safety for the Huskers, the Eagles say Gerry will serve in a linebacker role at the next level.

That's 55 straight years the Huskers have had a player drafted. Within that time, this was the second longest wait (if you go by overall pick) for the first NU player to be chosen.
