Friday Night Lights: A few observations and a big offer for a Scottsbluff D-end

It's six hours from Scottsbluff to Lincoln. Few six-hour drives offer the kind of payoff Garrett Nelson received Friday night.

While in Lincoln, the defensive end from Scottsbluff received a scholarship offer from Nebraska, going along with offers he notched earlier in the day from South Dakota State and South Dakota.

"He's one of the best leaders you could ask for," Scottsbluff coach Joe Benson said. "Lead-by-example guy. Weight room. All of our conditioning sessions. He goes 100 mph when we put the pads on."

Listed at 6-foot-3, 235 pounds, Nelson is a 2019 recruit.
