Ex-Husker Gordon to miss 3-4 weeks

MINNEAPOLIS — Royals outfielder Alex Gordon is headed to the disabled list Monday because of a broken scaphoid bone in his right hand.

The former Husker, who was injured in a collision with Mike Moustakas in Sunday’s 3-2 loss to the White Sox in Chicago and initially diagnosed as having a sprained wrist, is expected to miss 3-4 weeks.

The Royals are recalling infielder Cheslor Cuthbert from Class AAA Omaha. Cuthbert was optioned Saturday after Moustakas returned from the disabled list.

Moustakas was held out of Monday’s lineup against the Twins. He’s considered “day-to-day” because of a contusion on the outside of his knee.
