OMAHA — Almost out of the question just a few weeks ago, Nebraska could be in the hunt to host one of the 16 regionals when the NCAA Tournament begins June 5.
The Huskers (37-18, 16-8 Big Ten) could be in the thick of things if they win the Big Ten Tournament. Likely in the tournament no matter what happens in the Big Ten bracket, Nebraska is ranked 36th in the latest national RPI poll. Some projections have the Huskers as a No. 2 seed in regional tournaments from Gainesville (Florida) to Lubbock (Texas Tech).
But Nebraska could work into the mix as one of the hosts of the four-team regionals, according to Butch Hug, NU director of events.
