Barrow, Edwards help kick-start Husker offense in Big Ten-opening win

The Huskers cranked out 11 hits, including six of the extra-base variety, in a 9-6 win against Michigan State at Bowlin Stadium.

Laura Barrow, NU's No. 7 hitter, had two doubles and a home run, and Tristen Edwards homered and drove in four runs to help the Huskers, who jumped to a 6-2 lead.

The Huskers (22-9, 1-0 Big Ten) also received a spark from sophomore pitcher Sydney McLeod, who was making her seventh appearance of the season. The left-hander pitched the final three innings in relief of Kaylan Jablonski, limiting the Spartans (11-14, 0-1) to one run.
