Missed Opportunities Cost Huskers in 4-3 Loss

Iowa City, Iowa – Two-out hitting and three unearned runs were the story in Nebraska’s 4-3 loss to the #17 Iowa Hawkeyes (28-11, 11-2 Big Ten) in Saturday’s series opener. The Huskers, who fell to 30-14 on the year and 6-7 in league play, left 12 runners on base on the afternoon, including the bases loaded twice in the final three innings of the game. The Hawkeyes scored all four of their runs with two outs, including three unearned runs in the first inning following a two-out error.

The Huskers had the bases loaded with two outs in the seventh and ninth innings, but neither time came away with w run.
