University of Minnesota and Football Players Met Over Boycott

The University of Minnesota’s president met with the football team late Friday, a day after the players had pledged to boycott a bowl game unless the university lifted the suspensions of 10 teammates related to a sexual assault investigation.

The meeting, which also included Athletic Director Mark Coyle, came hours after the president, Eric W. Kaler, said that the team had declined an invitation to meet with him.

“I think we had a good exchange of views,” Kaler told the local television station KMSP after the meeting. “I understood them better; I hope they understand me better.
