ISU's Hoiberg recovering after heart surgery

Fred Hoiberg's lived the past few years knowing he'd eventually need to have his chest cut open, again, and for his heart to be operated on -- again.

Hoiberg's NBA career, which spanned from 1995-2005, was cut short due to a problematic ticker. An aortic root aneurysm diagnosis in '05 meant his playing days were over. Hoiberg had his aortic valve replaced on Friday at the famed Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. It was his second open-heart procedure.

Per Iowa State's brief release, all is well. Dr. Rakesh Suri was in charge of the operation and said, via release, "Everything went very well.
