NBA Free Agency Rumors: Paul George Re-Signing With OKC, Lakers Favorites For LeBron James And Chris Paul Staying

The start of NBA Free Agency is just around the corner, which means the NBA rumors are flowing. While much of free agency might depend on where LeBron James decides to play, there are plenty of other big names who could be on the open market. Here's a look at the latest NBA free agency rumors on big names like Chris Paul, Paul George and, yes, LeBron James.

Paul George To Re-Sign With Thunder?
When Paul George wanted out of Indiana, it was because he wanted to play for the Los Angeles Lakers. But now that he's set to be a free agent, PG13 might elect to stay in Oklahoma City. Sam Amick of USA Today reports that the Thunder think George is going to stay.

"Even with the Thunder coming just two losses away from missing the playoffs, and then falling to Utah in six games during their first-round matchup, there is all sorts of optimism in Oklahoma City that George will re-sign," Amick writes. "Conversely, there’s pessimism in James’ camp that George would leave Oklahoma City. George has raved about the Thunder since the beginning, making it clear to USA TODAY Sports in September that the organization had earned his confidence from the start."

George staying in Oklahoma City would be a huge boost for the Thunder, but it might hurt LeBron's chances of going to LA.

LeBron to Lakers?
In the same piece, Amick reports LeBron's chances of going to the Lakers will be hurt if George stays in OKC.

"But if George does indeed stay, that would be widely considered a big blow to the Lakers’ chances of landing James," Amick writes.

Of course, the Lakers are still the favorites to land LeBron James. Bovada has put out updated odds to land LeBron and the Lakers are at the top. L.A. checks in at -325, with the Cavs at second at +325. So, does Vegas know that LeBron is taking his talents West?

Paul Staying With Rockets?
While there was a report from Chris Broussard that Chris Paul and the Rockets were dealing with tension over his new contract, Sam Amick of USA Today reports that's not the case. Amick reports there is no tension between either side and that there's a strong sense within Rockets circles that Paul is staying put. So expect Paul to stay in Houston, although Amick reports it's unlikely James will join him.

Suns Dumping Elfrid Payton And Alex Len?
The Phoenix Suns made some big moves in the NBA Draft, netting DeAndre Ayton and Mikal Bridges. But the Suns aren't satisfied with just a bunch of young players - they're looking to add some players in free agency. To help do that, the Suns are expected to dump players like Elfrid Payton and Alex Len. The Arizona Republic reports the Suns will renounce the rights to those players, making them free agents. After that, players like Alan Williams, Tyler Ulis, Davon Reed and Shaq Harrison are on the choping block.

Dumping those players will put the Suns with around $20 million in cap space, which the team plans to use to add help at PG and power forward. Among the names the Arizona Republic says could be targets are Patrick Beverley, Fred VanVleet and Dante Exum. At PF, it's players like Jabari Parker, Ersan Ilyasova, Thad Young and Rudy Gay.
