Dallas Mavericks Free Agency Rumors: 4 Potential Replacements For Tim Hardaway Jr. In 2020 NBA Free Agency

The Dallas Mavericks’ most pleasant surprise this season was the emergence of Tim Hardaway Jr. as a true third option on the offensive end of the floor. Hardaway mixed perfectly with Kristaps Porzingis and Luka Doncic this season, but he has an $18 million player option going into free agency. If he opts out of his deal and looks to sign elsewhere, the Dallas Mavericks could be in the market for a new shooting guard. Those options may include names like Bogdan Bogdanovic of the Sacramento Kings, Malik Beasley of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Evan Fournier of the Orlando Magic and Joe Harris of the Brooklyn Nets

Bogdan Bogdanovic is going to be a restricted free agent this summer, which could make him a  little bit more expensive than the Mavs would like, but he may be worth it. At 27 years old, Bogdanovic is entering the prime of his career. He is good friends with Luka Doncic and Boban Marjanovic, which could make him a perfect target for the Mavericks. The Sacramento Kings have a lot of interest in re-signing Bogdan Bogdanovic this summer, but if they refuse to pony up the dough, there is a good chance the Mavericks could be in the market for him.

Malik Beasley of the Minnesota Timberwolves will be an interesting name to watch when free agency rolls around. Beasley has turned himself into a reliable scorer and defensive wings since being traded from the Denver Nuggets to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He is still young and a bit raw, but his feet in the Tim Hardaway Jr. roll seems almost too easy. Beasley, like Bogdanovic, is a restricted free agent, but the Timberwolves might let him walk if the Mavericks can drive the price up high enough.

Evan Fournier of the Orlando Magic has become one of the best scorers on his team. Fournier is an elite 3-point shooter that can step into the starting five or come off the bench in any situation. The Dallas Mavericks showed interest in Evan Fournier around the trade deadline, but nothing came of it as the Magic opted not to trade the french guard. This summer, he has a player option, but he could look to turn it down and get a long-term deal somewhere else… maybe even in Dallas.

Joe Harris of the Brooklyn Nets has been one of the best 3-point shooters in the NBA over the past two seasons. His defensive ability is less than ideal, but what he lacks on the defensive end, he makes up for on the offensive end. Harris’ shot-making ability would be a welcomed addition to any team in the NBA, but the Mavericks could thrive with another elite shooter like Harris hanging out around the 3-point arc. Joe Harris is still young, and the Brooklyn Nets would love to bring him back with a healthy Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, but if they can’t, the Mavs should be interested.

Potential Free Agent Targets For the Mavs:
