Promising sophomore QB leaves football program

There was a time when Jonah Llanusa was projected to one day become the starting quarterback at Navy. Now it's more likely the standout athlete will become a starting outfielder for the Midshipmen.

Llanusa has left the football program and now plans to pursue varsity baseball at the Naval Academy, The Capital learned this week. Head coach Ken Niumatalolo confirmed during the American Athletic Conference Football Media Day that the promising sophomore has hung up the helmet and grabbed a glove.

"I just think Jonah went home over the summer and thought about what he wanted to do.
