Navy clinched the West Division crown and secured a berth in the American Athletic Conference championship by beating East Carolina on Nov. 19.
For the next two weeks, head coach Ken Niumatalolo found himself answering the same question: How will Navy handle playing a game one week before the annual showdown with archrival Army, which has not happened since way back in 1941.
Niumatalolo provided a standard response that everyone associated with the Navy football program had long ago contemplated the possibility and there was a solid plan in place. The ninth-year head coach did not elaborate on what that plan entailed.
