Nashville Predators Legal Battles Continue

Nashville Predators former team chairman, David Freeman, sued Predators Holdings LLC and current team chairman Tom Cigarran on June 23 and is seeking $250 million in damages from both Cigarran and the club.

At issue right now with the suit is whether it will be heard in Nashville by Chancellor Ellen Hobbs Lyle or go to arbitration with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman. Freeman and his legal team argue that Bettman by virtue of his position cannot be impartial when it comes to the Nashville Predators which are a viable member of the NHL.

Freeman’s attorneys also argued to Chancellor Ellen Hobbs Lyle that Bettman has an inherent motivation to quash disputes between owners for the good of the NHL.
