There is never really a good time to fire a head coach, but the timing of the New Mexico job opening is actually working to their benefit. Athletic director Paul Krebs is in Glendale, Arizona, at the Final Four and that is allowing him to interview potential candidates this weekend as nearly every Division I coach is in town.
Krebs wants to make a hire sooner rether than later and there are reportedly up to three interviews taking place at the Final Four. One name that has come out is Florida Gulf Coast head coach, and former Lobo assistant, Joe Dooley will interview on Sunday.
