Marie-Philip Poulin leads Les Canadiennes to victory over Toronto

The Toronto Furies were undefeated when they arrived in Montreal this afternoon. That’s no longer the case.

“I think we were really excited to play in front of our home crowd,” said new Canadiennes captain Marie-Philip Poulin, in her first home game with the ‘C’, who more than delivered to the packed house at Etienne-Desmarteau Arena in Rosemont.

Poulin scored the winning goal with 5:08 left in the third period as Montreal defeated Toronto 2-1. She also scored the team’s first goal in the second period.

Toronto came out really strong in the first period. The Furies had the first power play opportunity of the game when Cathy Chartrand took a hooking minor.
