The 28-year-old Frenchman was cruising to a win over Don’Tale Mayes at UFC Singapore on Saturday, definitively winning the striking battle for almost the entirety of the bout before deciding to take things to the ground. Rather than ride the rest of the fight out in top position, Gane hunted for a heel hook that had Mayes tapping with just 14 seconds remaining in the third round.
According to the broadcast, Gane’s finish at the 4:46 mark of round three was the latest submission in UFC heavyweight history.
Gane improved to 5-0 as pro with all of his wins ending inside the distance.
