A pair of up-and-coming featherweights could be on tap for the UFC’s big pay-per-view card in Los Angeles.
LA Times’ Lance Pugmire wrote on Twitter that Dana White confirmed Yair Rodriguez will take on Zabit Magomedsharipov at UFC 227 on August 4th.
Shortly afterwards, however, MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani also reported on his Twitter account that the bout is not yet a closed deal, despite what Dana White said.
Reports that Zabit Magomedsharipov vs. Yair Rodriguez is done for 227 are premature. I reported weeks ago that’s the fight and date they want but I’m told it’s not close to done at this time.
