According to the family of Matt Hughes, he is in stable condition and suffered no broken bones in a recent accident where his vehicle was struck by a train. But he has not awoken and is not responsive yet, and UFC president Dana White has stated that the UFC Hall of Famer has suffered head trauma.
The 43-year-old’s condition, and the circumstances around the accident, remain a mystery. He is currently at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. But according to MMA Junkie, a nonprofit organization has offered to transport Hughes to a facility specializing in traumatic brain injury in Atlanta.
