According to sports reporter Mike Martignago with The Province, Kevin Alston is on Vancouver’s radar, with the Whitecaps “very interested” in signing the right back:
Last week, Orlando City announced that they had declined Alston’s contract option, leaving the defender free to move on.
What would this news mean for the Whitecaps? Right back was clearly a problem position last season, and a signing there seemed desperately needed. Both Fraser Aird and Jordan Smith disappointed when called upon. With both players seemingly headed back to their parent clubs, the need for a replacement has become all the more urgent.
