Since the benching of Vadim Demidov, who brought down the entire back line when he started, Francisco Calvo has statically been one of the best CBs in MLS, and the Loons certainly notice his absence when he’s away with the Ticos, so why is nobody talking about him?
It could come down to the fact that, due to Minnesota’s lackluster record this season, the average fan doesn’t assume that Calvo has that much of an impact. However, whenever Calvo misses a match, the Loons become so much worse, and it’s easy to see that the Costa Rican is Minnesota’s best, and most important player, by quite a margin.
