A midfielder from the University of Indiana, Thompson, is the younger brother of San Jose Earthquake Tommy Thompson. Minnesota United’s selection was rated by Will Parchman as the 5th best central midfielder available in the draft, so it appears that the Loons got good value in grabbing Thompson in the 4th round.
Tanner, who had some first round buzz prior to his senior season at Indiana, is known as a central playmaker. Excellent on the ball, both in ability, and composure.
