Former MLB All-Star OF Carlos Gómez Attempting to Qualify for Olympics in Cycling

Former MLB All-Star outfielder Carlos Gómez is looking to make his comeback in sports, but he's trading the diamond for the road.

Gómez, who retired from baseball in 2020, is attempting to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics in cycling, per the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Todd Rosiak. According to Rosiak, Gómez is training to compete in the velodrome.

Rosiak reported that if he wins a qualifying race in May, the 13-year veteran could have the chance to represent the Dominican Republic in the 500-meter velodrome.

The 500-meter velodrome, which is more a test of strength and speed rather than endurance, makes sense for the speedy outfielder, and he is apparently on a strenuous training regimen.
