MLB Free Agency Mega-Roundup: Latest On Yankees' Pursuit Of Darvish, Possible Machado Trade, & More

Believe it or not, we're already three weeks into the new year and soon MLB teams will be reporting to Spring Training. Considering the offseason the New York Yankees have had, it isn't surprising to see OddShark giving them with the best odds to win the 2018 World Series. With still plenty of big named players receiving offers, some may be on the move shortly. Here are all the latest news & rumors you need to know:

Yankees not in mix for Yu Darvish
The Yankees have been linked to Darvish all offseason, but according to Nick Cafardo of The Boston Globe, the Yankees are not in play for Darvish.

Right now, the Yankees do not appear to be in the Darvish hunt. GM Brian Cashman acknowledged the team would have to shed a major contract (read: Jacoby Ellsbury) in order to fit in Darvish and remain under the luxury tax. “I’m very happy with our rotation right now and I don’t think we need to do something unless it makes sense for us,” Cashman said.

The 31-year-old had a 3.86 ERA over 186.2 innings pitched with 209 strikeouts and 58 walks with the Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Dodgers last season.

Indians discussing Manny Machado trade with Orioles
Baltimore Orioles star third baseman Manny Machado was on the trade block earlier this offseason before being taken off of it, and now, the Orioles have had conversations with the Indians about a trade that would send him to Cleveland, according to Jon Morosi of MLB.com.

The Indians and Orioles were in contact last month regarding a possible Machado trade, although sources said Friday that the sides aren't actively discussing him now.

Machado, who will be a free agent after the season, batted .259 with 33 homers and 95 RBIs in 156 games last season.

Orioles interested in Jarrod Dyson
Speaking of the Orioles, they are also showing interest in speedy free agent outfielder Jarrod Dyson, according to Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com.

The Orioles want a left-handed bat to at least platoon in right, ideally someone who can back up Adam Jones in center. How it impacts Austin Hays, Joey Rickard and Anthony Santander would play out in spring training.

Jarrod Dyson remains a possibility for the Orioles, according to sources. They’ve checked his medicals and he’s still in the picture.

Dyson batted .251/.324/.350 with 13 doubles, three triples, five home runs, 30 RBIs, and 28 stolen bases for the Seattle Mariners last season.

Molina, 35, hit .273 with 18 home runs and 82 RBIs in 136 games last season.
