Tigers collapse in homecoming stunner

UPDATED, 7:05 p.m.

COLUMBIA, MO. • Missouri can probably forget about spending the holidays in one of the SEC’s southern hotbeds of Shreveport or Birmingham.

In a game that saw six lead changes and more than 1,200 yards of offense, Middle Tennessee turned Barry Odom’s disappointing start to his head-coaching career into a nightmare. The Blue Raiders, 0 for their last 7 against teams from the power conferences, upended the Tigers 51-45 to spoil homecoming and perhaps send Mizzou’s season into a spiral. A bowl game seems almost impossible at this point. Missouri (2-5) would have to win four of its final five games, all of which are SEC contests, including games against nationally ranked Tennessee and Arkansas.
