The Springfield Cardinals general manager got the call up to the big show.
The St. Louis Cardinals and their Double-A minor league affiliate announced the promotion of Springfield Cardinals General Manager Matt Gifford to the major league parent club on Tuesday afternoon with a press conference at Hammons Field. Gifford will become the St. Louis vice president of stadium operations.
Gifford has been vice president and general manager of the Springfield Cardinals since the club formed in 2004.
