Questionable no-call leads to Glendale coach Mike Mauk's ejection at state quarterfinal

A questionable no-call during the second quarter of Friday night's state quarterfinal matchup between Glendale and Carthage resulted in the ejection of Falcons head coach Mike Mauk.

With over six minutes remaining in the second quarter and the Falcons down 28-12, Glendale's Ben Shoemaker was the intended receiver on a pass across the middle.

Shoemaker was sandwiched between two Carthage defenders — with one appearing to make helmet-to-helmet contact.

As the receiver stayed on the ground injured after the play, the referees didn't throw a flag for a helmet-to-helmet hit.

Mauk, the Glendale head coach, went out to see Shoemaker and also had some words for the referee.
