Springfield Cardinals General Manager Dan Reiter’s career in baseball began with a contest and a videocassette tape.
Reiter had just graduated from the University of Missouri in 2004 and was looking for his first job. While watching a St. Louis Cardinals game, he saw an ad for a contest called “Payin’ Your Dues.” The winner received some executive perks and the chance to meet then-Cardinals president Mark Lamping.
Reiter recounted how he made a video to enter the contest.
“They had a TV contest to be president of the Cardinals for a day.
