MSU President on Art Briles: 'He would never have been considered under any circumstances'

Missouri State President Clif Smart said Thursday at Bobby Petrino's introductory press conference that disgraced football coach Art Briles was never considered for the Bears' head coach opening.

"We did not contact him, we did not contact anyone about him, he was never on our list," Smart said. "He would have never been considered under any circumstances. Period."

Briles was fired from Baylor in 2016 amid the school's sexual assault scandal.

FootballScoop.com reported Tuesday night that Briles would be the next football coach of the Missouri State. He has since denied speaking to Missouri State about the opening to ESPN.
