MSU announces Breck Ruddick won't play for the remainder of the season

Suspended Missouri State University quarterback Breck Ruddick will not play for the remainder of the 2016 football season.

Coach Dave Steckel announced Monday that Ruddick will remain on the team. Ruddick would continue on scholarship and would be able to practice with the team. Steckel left open the possibility that Ruddick could return as a full member of the team next season if he meets certain requirements. Steckel did not comment on the nature of those requirements.

Ruddick was suspended Sept. 23 after allegations surfaced on Facebook that he had abused a dog in his care. Ruddick was later ticketed by Springfield Animal Control for animal cruelty and allowing a dog to run at large, both municipal ordinance violations.
