Two-run single by Poole saves Gray

Mississippi State baseball’s sixth scrimmage of the preseason resulted in a 4-4 tie between Maroon and Gray after junior outfielder Tanner Poole’s two-RBI single with two outs in the seventh. The exhibition Saturday was held at Dudy Noble Field.

Gray trailed 4-2 heading into the final inning before the comeback started. Junior Luke Reynolds walked, advanced on a botched pickoff attempt and moved to third on a groundout. Freshman Jake Mangum then walked and stole second, allowing Poole to drive in both runners to tie the game.

The victors had scored its first two runs in the sixth thanks to a sacrifice fly from junior Nathaniel Lowe and a triple from senior Mike Smith.
