This weekend, things in Starkville are about more than just a Mississippi State football game.
This weekend, the entirety of Mississippi State University will be honoring the legacy of a Mississippi State softball icon, Alex Wilcox. Wilcox isn’t an icon because of her performance on the softball field. Rather, it’s the fight that she endured and dealt with off of the field that made her into something of a MSU legend.
Alex Wilcox, throughout her freshman year as as Mississippi State softball player, battled ovarian cancer. She received support from several different sources, including Central Arkansas, other Southeastern Conference softball teams, and a professional Chinese softball team.
