What increased ‘pace of play’ meant for hoops this season

Late last spring the NCAA announced a rules change and renewed focus for game officials to improve what it called “pace of play.”

In essence, changes were made to bring about what the NCAA hoped would be a greater advantage for the offense.

There were times at the beginning of the season when I thought games were going to last 2 1-2 hours on average.

Eventually officials and players both settled into the new order.

I’m not sure the new order is better. I’m OK with defense and fundamentals and don’t believe they need to be penalized.
