New Ole Miss coordinator Wesley McGriff sees improving defense

Ole Miss was on the bottom in almost every statistical category defensively last fall in the SEC.

The Rebels allowed a whopping 34 points and 246.3 rushing yards per game. Exit defensive coordinator Dave Wommack. Enter new defensive coordinator Wesley McGriff.

Going by what happened in spring practice, McGriff brings an enthusiasm to a defense that it has been lacking for the past two seasons.

McGriff, who began his SEC coaching career at Kentucky in 2001, is in his second stint at Ole Miss; his two most recent stops were Auburn and the NFL’s New Orleans Saints.
