Ole Miss Uses Furious 4th-Quarter Rally To Pull 29-28 Upset Over #8 Texas A&M

The Ole Miss Rebels have had a less-than-spectacular season to this point, but injuries forced them to turn to true freshman quarterback Shea Patterson - and in his first start, he delivered a stunning 29-28 upset over the #8 Texas A&M Aggies in College Station.

Texas A&M was holding onto slim College Football Playoff hopes as a two-loss team, but this loss has all but killed those hopes.

The Aggies were also without their starting quarterback, Trevor Knight, but it didn't seem to affect them whole lot at the beginning of the game. Quarterback Jake Hubenak and running back Keith Ford powered the Aggies to a 21-6 lead at halftime, and that was the lead they held into the fourth quarter - when all hell broke loose.

Patterson started the comeback with a six-yard touchdown pass to Damore'ea Stringfellow, then Akeem Judd ran for a touchdown to make it 21-19 after the two-point conversion failed. Suddenly in a game, Hubenak calmly led the Aggies on an 11-play drive down the field, resulting in a 13-yard touchdown pass to Josh Reynolds

Not to be outdone, Patterson went down the field in less than a minute and a half, finding Van Johnson for a 32-yard touchdown.

After that, Ole Miss' defense stepped up, and a 39-yard field goal from Gary Wunderlich with less than a minute left won the game for the Rebels, capping a 23-point 4th-quarter and a 15-point comeback.

Patterson finished 25/42 passing for 332 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, while Judd rushed for 100 yards and that touchdown on 20 carries. Ole Miss, who now sits at 5-5 on the season, travels to Vanderbilt next week before closing the season at home against Mississippi State.

Hubenak led the way with 213 passing yards, two touchdowns and an interception, but Texas A&M now drops 7-3 on the season. They will host UTSA next weekend before closing the season at home against LSU.
