It’s been 72 hours since the Minnesota Wild’s shocking exit from the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The swift first-round defeat against the St. Louis Blues has the State of Hockey searching for answers.

What happened? What did the Wild do poorly? What does the team need going forward?

So far, few have provided real answers.

One common concrete suggestion is to trade Jason Pominville, but even that isn’t particularly satisfactory. Sure, I get that getting his $5.6 million cap hit off the books is a good thing. But how? Do you trade a top prospect to get it done, as teams like Florida and Chicago did last season?
