Now the work begins for Mike Reilly.
The former Gophers All-America defenseman and Chaska native wrapped up the Wild development camp with a scrimmage Tuesday night at Xcel Energy Center.
And while the past week was in some sense the first audition in front of the Wild for Reilly -- who signed with the team as a free agent on July 1 -- he admitted he's not anywhere near the shape he hopes to be in come late August.
"I haven't skated as much coming into this as I would have liked," Reilly said, "because I didn't really know what I was doing -- whether I was coming to a camp like this.
