Jerry Gray remains optimistic that his $39 investment will pay off.
Earlier this month, after cornerback Xavier Rhodes continued to be penalty prone, the Vikings defensive backs coach went to a sporting goods store and bought a pair of boxing gloves. Three times during practices in the past three weeks, Gray has had Rhodes wear the gloves to work on not being so grabby.
"If it can keep him from holding and get him to where we need him to go, I'll take the $39 hit,'' said Gray, who didn't put the gloves on his expense account.
