Minnesota Vikings defend Michael Floyd’s kombucha tea defense

The Minnesota Vikings recently came to the defense of new wide receiver Michael Floyd. The 27-year-old receiver is scheduled for a hearing in Scottsdale Arizona for failing several breathalyzer tests on June 11th. Consuming any alcohol is a direct violation of his house arrest.

Floyd has maintained the defense that he drank kombucha tea. The tea caused him to test positive and he did not know that it contained alcohol. This defense is his only chance at staying out of jail and having any shot at playing with the Minnesota Vikings next season.

Here is a statement from Tom Pelissero of USA Today provided from Floyd’s agent:

Statement issued through Michael Floyd's agent says he tested clean 500+ times before The Kombucha Incident.
